Horses runningWhat brings value to your life? Do you love to bake? Are you an artist who paints? Sometimes our value has a lot of moving parts.

Sometimes I can be a little too cautious. My number one value is connection and Iā€™m an introvert who can be afraid to connect with people. I can be excited about going to a big event and then want to stand in the corner rather than make connections. Or Iā€™ll spend the time with the people I already know. Iā€™m much better in a small intimate group.

A friend of mine and I used to go to the AQHA Convention. There were a lot of opportunities to meet new like-minded people at these events. It was hard for me to do that in the socials they would have before the banquets, too many people. When we chose our seats at the banquets at least one of the nights we asked to be put with people we hadnā€™t met. At one of those events, I met a man who had a stud farm that I went to visit a few weeks later and took some photographs of his horses.

The other part that comes out in these situations is the part that feels like sheā€™s not smart enough. She doesnā€™t want people to think sheā€™s stupid. That would be humiliating, and she would feel shame around it.

This is a long-held belief that Iā€™ve had. I believe it came from a teacher who would put me in the janitorā€™s closet across the room from our classroom when I didnā€™t get my homework done. This was in an old two-story schoolhouse on the second floor. The building had no air conditioning, and that room had no heat. I remember the room vividly. It didnā€™t help me get my work done because the feelings of being a victim flooded over me.

horse and womanIā€™ve done a lot of work around this belief. Still, it rears its ugly head sometimes. There have been times when Iā€™ve been able to work through it almost immediately. Other times itā€™s not as easy.

Do you have a long-held limiting belief youā€™d like to conquer? Let the horses help. Connect with me here to learn more.
