I love sunsets. Here in Kansas, we get some spectacular ones. I have a favorite picture that I took of the sun setting over the ocean in Kona, Hawaii in my bathroom. Itās special to me and Iām proud of it. I took it on the first evening of my first trip to Hawaii. A trip that was life-changing for me. When I showed it to my mom, she said I could see better sunsets out of my windows.
The reason we get great sunsets here is because the air is full of dust. Like the smokey haze you see where there are wildfires the dust can make them amazing. The clouds can be awesome as well if they donāt cover the sunset altogether.
Mothers! They can say things that have your feelings come crashing down around you. My parents were encouraging and even now that little girl who needs praise from her parents shows up. As we grow up with this it affects our confidence and self-esteem. Itās done unintentionally and it still hurts. Itās a learned behavior that is handed down through generations. They are doing their best with what they learned.
I also know that I passed some of these things along to my boys. And I apologize for that. I too did the best I could at the time. This is why I sometimes hear something my mother or grandmother would have said come out of my mouth. Sometimes it surprises me.
Sunsets, sunrises, and the moon and stars can have a calming property. Add the horses and you have a great environment for healing.
