CardinalThis morning before I got out of bed I was in gratitude. I was listening to the birds all around. A little different since I woke up in Oakley this morning. There are trees closer to the house here than in Oskaloosa and they were serenading me in song.

Completing My Time in Oakley

The house is under contract and Roderick could help so we made a quick trip back to finish cleaning up. Weā€™ll have to make another trip though as everything I wanted wouldnā€™t fit in the trailer.

In my beginning of the year planning, I identified that this would be a year of completions.Ā  Getting out of the house in Oakley was one of the things on that list.

My gratitude this morning was about that and going home. The house in Oskaloosa brings me so much peace.

It is hard to leave this house as it is where we raised our children. Oakley is also where I have lived all my life. Itā€™s comfortable. Not as much as it used to be as Iā€™ve grown into a different person than I was.

curvy country roadI was asked by one of Charlieā€™s friends yesterday if I liked my new location. I do. I have the rural lifestyle that Iā€™m accustomed to and Iā€™m much closer to the population I want to serve. Itā€™s also easier to get there from a distance.

Why Oskaloosa

One day when Mike and I were waiting in a surgical waiting area/lobby at KU Med Center I overheard a conversation that I assumed was between a student and her parents. She had been at a session where someone had said that they were building KU Med Center to be one of the best hospitals in the country because it is a two-hour plane trip from anywhere in the US. I would add the caveat that it is from any major airport as Iā€™ve flown out of Kansas City and it took longer to get to my destination because I had to get on a puddle jumper for the final part of the trip.

Oakley is a half a day drive from Wichita, Denver, or Kansas City. The closest regional airports are 85 and 90 miles away. If you can get a flight into one of them that is at a reasonable time you might be able to be in Oakley in a day. So, I am digging my new place for its convenience for my clients.

Itā€™s so easy to be mindful when at Serenity Ranch. There is such peace here. I have 103 acres that arenā€™t too hard to get to. Itā€™s a perfect spot to come for a day of team building, leadership training, or mindfulness for your group. I call them PlayShops (click here for more information). Come out and spend a day in your play clothes with horses and me. Click the button below to schedule a call to discuss your needs and schedule a PlayShop for your group.
