Iā€™ve gotten too good at waiting rooms.

A long time ago I figured out that I didnā€™t want to read or even look at whatever magazines were in the waiting room. So, I would take books or magazines of my own to read.

With the advent of smartphones, I found an app that would let me save Internet articles from my desktop to the app. Now I didnā€™t even have to carry anything extra. It was all at my fingertips on my phone.

Now with most hospitals/clinics offering Internet and using Facebookā€™s ā€œsaveā€ feature. I have saved articles there as well. If I think I may be waiting for a spell without Mike I take a bag with my computer, a book, and maybe some snacks. I also take a pair of headphones, so Iā€™m not distracted by the others in the room. I can read, work on designs or photographs while listening to Pandora on my phone.

But waiting for someone to call to make an appointment that will affect your life is a whole new ballgame. I wanted this taken care of AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

Mike had appointments on Monday and Tuesday. While we were in the waiting room for one on Monday another office called and said the doctor had a family obligation come up and they were going to reschedule him on Wednesday. So, we had a day with nothing to do.

We hadnā€™t yet said anything to the kids about the wonky mammogram. Why worry them when it was going to be nothing.

Magazine rack

Magazine rack at KU Med Center. No wonder I want my own reading material.

Of course, the scheduler called when we were with Roderick and his girlfriend. Not only that we were in my Jeep that connects my phone by Bluetooth to the speaker system. When the phone rang and I saw the number I answered and immediately took it off speaker.

They had an appointment for me November 3rd. I had my Equine Gestalt CoachingĀ® exam on November 2nd and had been leaving the following day open in case I didnā€™t finish it. The exam was in Elizabeth, CO a good three-hour drive from Colby. No, I wouldnā€™t like that one. The next available was November 6th. That one will work I said.

I had more waiting while they took Mike into the operating room to have two surgeons work on him. Then they thankfully kept him in the hospital overnight that time.

Onward!Ā Next step, the biopsy.
