Spring is here. The horses are kicking and swishing at the flies. Weāve had a short respite from the rain and now itās supposed to start again. The pastures are green and lush. We were also able to see the aurora borealis on Friday night, although not with our eyes, we had to use our cameras.
Peace at the Ranch
Nature is blooming. I regularly see turkeys in the mornings. Sometimes I also see coyotes and deer. Iām hoping to see babies as well. They all live in the trees that surround my house. Yesterday morning as I went out a couple of times, I enjoyed the sounds of the various birds. The frogs greet us with their chorus in the evenings.
It feels so peaceful when I go out at night and look at the stars. This weekend there was a crescent moon. Unfortunately, I couldnāt get a good capture of it when taking pictures. This is something I need to work on.
When Perfectionism Invades
I think it was in 2014 when there was a lunar eclipse a local man hired me to take pictures of it. He had the time and place all planned out. I had to get up at what felt like the middle of the night and meet him at the location he wanted the pictures taken. He wanted the Buffalo Bill statue in the foreground. When I showed him the results he was thrilled. I felt they werenāt up to snuff. Another way my perfectionism rears its ugly head.
As I sit on this stump and enjoy the nature around me, Iām reminded that we donāt need to be perfect. It can be hard to not feel less than when we see everyoneās best life on social media. Or look at those beautiful pictures that other photographers take. Itās hard not to compare our lives or photographs.
Perfectionism shows up in many ways for us. Especially today itās hard to not have the ākeep up with the Jonesesā feeling with social media and everyone posting their A-reels. We tend to compare it with our B-reels. We get a skewed vision of what perfect is. This happens not only in beauty, it also happens in how we work on projects. It can lead to procrastination and limiting beliefs.

There is such healing in nature. It brings an awareness to life outside of our bodies. And it can bring inner peace. Come out to Serenity Ranch to get some nature and inner peace to your life. You wonāt regret it.
