Sunset over oceanIn May of 2021 on a Memorial Day weekend that included my dadā€™s birthday, I was on the Big Island in Hawaii. It was a trip that changed my life although I didnā€™t realize it for several months.

One of my Gestalt cohort members has a home there and another member and I took advantage of an invitation to join her for the weekend. We did a little work on the property and gave her ideas about decorating her house, and we did some sightseeing. It was a fabulous time.

I stayed in the Coco Cottage on the property and every morning I was awakened by the crowing of a rooster. Every night I was lulled into sleep by the croaking of the coqui frogs. What a wonderful cacophony of sounds that was unusual for me. All while being peaceful. This is my intention for the new location.

Lone highwayThe house I live in now is close enough to the highway that I can hear the trucks as they engage their engine brakes to slow down for the railroad tracks and turn. There are also neighborhood dogs who sometimes serenade us with their barking. When my grandkids were here last summer, they noticed car doors closing and wanted to run to the door. I told them it was probably someone at a neighborā€™s as I donā€™t have many people come to my door. Not like living in the country where every car door is a hint that someone is there.

Scream in LegosIā€™m starting a new adventure soon. My property is 103 acres with a long driveway up to the house. When I hear a car door then it will definitely be a guest. And I will not hear the sound of engine brakes from the highway because although there is a highway close it doesnā€™t have the kind of traffic that the one here does.

Adventures can be scary and exciting at the same time. They infuse your life with new blood. Itā€™s up to you how to respond to it.
