Learning to Wait for the Right Moment
Sometimes you must have faith in Divine timing. I’ll admit—that’s not my strong suit. Patience is a shell I’m still growing into.
Yesterday, I planned to attend a meeting in Lawrence. John had a job interview around the same time, and since we only have one vehicle, I told him he could take it. He offered to ride his bike instead.
Just as he was about to leave, the weather app warned of storms. I insisted he take the Jeep—no bike riding in lightning. But before he even reached the first gate, he backed up and said the left rear tire was showing 17 psi. It didn’t look flat, but he didn’t want to risk it. He rode his bike anyway.
Later, I checked with the tire shop. They said it could be a bad sensor, given the Jeep’s age—possibly all sensors needing replacement. That sounded expensive. However, when John returned, the manual gauge confirmed that the tire had indeed reached 17 psi. He changed it in the driveway, and we took it to the shop for a repair this morning.
The Unexpected Encounters
While waiting at the shop, I met a woman with two tires in need of fixing. Our conversation revealed some intriguing shared interests that could potentially lead to a great connection.
Then we drove to Lawrence for lunch. On the way, we passed Old Chicago. I asked John if he wanted to eat there, and we did—only to have a woman I’d been wanting to talk to about Equusology walk in. We finally had a chance to connect.
Two perfect moments I couldn’t have planned.
Letting Go Through Life’s Transitions
It’s hard to release your role as caregiver—especially when it’s your child. Whether they’re moving into middle school, high school, or college, letting them transition can feel like you’re prying open a shell you’ve worked so hard to protect.
But there are times they need to be the priority… and times you need to be the priority too.
