Banner of horse's eyes

woman and horseI spent the weekend in Wisconsin training for A Heroā€™s Journey with Horses. This is a great program for building self-esteem in adults, teens, and tweens. Now I am able to hold these programs here at Serenity Ranch.

Often when we think of heroes, we think of superheroes or celebrities. What about those everyday heroes? What about you?

Weā€™re all programmed to see heroes such as those in the Marvel movies or if youā€™re old enough comic books. Those larger-than-life people have superpowers and can save humans in extreme circumstances. The two scenes that come to mind are Mr Incredible stopping the train at the last minute and the way Wonder Woman swirls around to change from her everyday life into her superhero costume so she could go in and save the day.

Boy in Captain America costumeWe all have superheroes within us. I have a colleague who Iā€™ve witnessed in several pieces of work where she becomes Wonder Woman. She goes through her emotional turmoil and comes out on the other side rescuing herself as the self-confident person she is. Itā€™s her Wonder Woman, her hero within.

As a caregiver, I was being a hero for my husband, our children, and even my parents and the people in town. Sometimes that wore me down. There were times when I felt emotionally dehydrated. Sometimes I was (and still am) humbled by the people who tell me I was/am an inspiration.

Now Iā€™m discovering my hero within more and more. Iā€™ve moved over 300 miles to be closer to the clients that I want to serve. Iā€™m healing from breast cancer and grief. Iā€™m constantly improving my skills to assist the horses in healing humansā€™ emotional states.

Whoā€™s showing up as a hero in your life? Come let me and the herd show you how it is you.
