Intentions work!
Whenever I set an intention to get to a Core while going through my Equine Gestalt Coaching MethodĀ® training I always made it. One-time Mike had surgery the Friday before in Kansas City and I needed to be in Elizabeth, CO at 8:30 am Wednesday. The surgeon told us he wasnāt working over the weekend, but he didnāt see any reason his colleague wouldnāt discharge him on Sunday. The doctor who was covering his patients apparently didnāt see it the same way.
Mikeās surgeon came back on Monday to an emergent case and didnāt come to see Mike until about 2:00 pm. I had already decided that I may only get a drive-by at home. I could do laundry at the ranch if needed. And if for some reason they kept Mike longer I could cancel and make it up later. Everything would work out.
We had been talking about this surgery for a couple of weeks. We had decided to hold off until after my Core then decided that it wouldnāt wait. We had already postponed it from the week before for health reasons and it was important to have it done. So, the surgeon knew about my schedule.
When he came in on Monday afternoon, he said he didnāt want to discharge him late in the day and would like to wait until morning. We agreed to this then he looked at me and asked when my workshop was. I said I needed to be in Colorado by 8:30 am on Wednesday and he changed his mind and let him leave that afternoon. As it turned out, I did have time to do my laundry at home.
At every Core that I went to I started my check in with some version of Iām so grateful to be here. Grateful that he was well enough to take care of himself so that I could leave him for a few days.
At least one time I got back to learn that he had spent a night in the hospital. I had been talking with his pulmonologist about an hour before I left that time and he had reassured me. On Tuesday I was driving him to KU Med Center for a three-day hospital stay.
Yesterday a friend posted the quote about resolutions to the side on Facebook and it started me thinking.
I donāt know that Iāve made any hard and fast resolutions in my life. But the quote made a lot of sense to me.
When I was planning my Visioning Weekend I used āForget About Resolutionsā because it seems people have trouble sticking to them.
Could that be in our perception of what a resolution is? A solution to a problem and we are not problems. We have problems. Those problems, challenges, issues, or whatever you want to call them have shown up to help with our growth.
As I reflect on a year full of challenges itās time to create a vision for next year. Set an intention.
Will there be challenges? Most likely. I will Embrace them as necessary for my growth and keep moving forward.
Thereās still time to join me at the Visioning Weekend as I create my vision for 2019. Click here for more information.
Believe in yourself, create your vision, and set your intentions.Ā
Onward! Keep Going
