Horse's blue eyeSome say the eyes are the window to the soul. The horses see our souls. They can also help us with our vision for the future.

Iā€™ve always had a lot of vision. My vision always included horses. Iā€™ve also corrected the course of my vision several times.

At first, it included showing at a high level. Then breeding champion racehorses. My vision also included a family so some of those aspirations were put aside while I raised my children and was a caregiver for my husband. The vision for my future still includes horses in a different manner than Iā€™d ever imagined.

I think in 2011 I discovered Melisa Pearce and Touched by a HorseĀ®. I had listened to her calls about her program, and I was intrigued. Mike wasnā€™t willing to spend the money for me to enroll in the program. In 2013 as he was being admitted to the hospital for the first time in what was to be a five-year journey, I applied for the full-time tourism position with the City of Oakley. For the first three years of his medical trek, I had a full-time job. At the end of 2015, I quit the job when they combined it with another full-time job, and I had used all my sick and vacation time and then some.

woman and horseIn January 2016 I started my next adventure ā€“ The Equine Gestalt CoachingĀ® Method training. In this training, we learn about Gestalt both in person and virtually. We release our own trauma while learning to help others being guided by our horse partners. It was a perfect fit for me as I was caregiving for Mike and being in treatment for breast cancer.

horse and womanOne of the things we work on is our vision. The visions we write are big and specific. The exercise takes us through a day in our best life from waking up to ending our day. They stretch our imagination and help us reach for what might otherwise have been unattainable.

The horses look deep into our souls and see our truth. They have ways to let us know what they are and if we truly believe them.

Iā€™ve had several vision corrections over my lifetime. The way it turned out I was blessed to be where I could have as many as 20 horses at a time and foster my love for them.
