How Horses Help Us Release Energy
When you yawn you release negative energy. I knew that the horses did this for us. I didnāt realize that we did it ourselves until I was working with a yoga instructor. She told me she liked seeing me yawn when I was doing yoga. It was a release.
It started a conversation about how the horses do it for us as well.
A Personal Experience: Sassyās Silent Support
One day I heard a song on the radio that brought up emotions around Mike. I was driving out to feed the horses and finished listening in the Jeep. I may have been crying a bit. I looked out and saw Sassy, one of my mares, yawning. She was helping me release the sadness through the window from several feet away.
Through my work, I have seen this happen several times with clients as well as myself. Sometimes Iām not aware of the energy they are releasing. The other day when I put Ace out, he didnāt immediately go out to pasture. This is not normal for him. He likes to eat. I stood there with him while he yawned. Waiting calmly until he was done. Then he happily went out to eat.
Iām not sure what was up with me that he wanted to clear. He must have felt something and Iām glad I noticed that he wanted to help.
The Gift of Awareness: When We Pause to Listen
This is why I have always felt that all was right with the world when I am out with the horses. They were my solace when I was a kid even though I didnāt realize they were sharing their gift of healing with me.
There are times when Iām so caught up in what Iām doing that I donāt notice. I have an agenda. It feels special when they work on me. Iām always grateful when I notice.
This is only one of the things horses do for humans.
They are masters at team building, leadership, and mindfulness. They detect if you are speaking your truth even when you donāt realize that you arenāt. They can teach you about setting boundaries. They hold space for us in many ways.
