The wind can blow brutally here. Today is supposed to be one of those days.

carnival at night

If youā€™re driving it may feel like the vehicle sprouts wings. As if youā€™re on an amusement park ride and not a gentle Ferris wheel ride. As a little girl I remember holding onto a blanket as if it was a sail to see if the wind would carry me away.

I remember one time as a child driving with my mom and my brothers to Denver. The wind was blowing the dirt out of the fields. It was also raining so the dust was sticking to the windshield. The windshield wipers were not keeping the windshield clear, so mom had to pull over and clear it off a few times.

My mom who grew up in California once told me that when she moved here, she made peace with many things in the environment that were different. She never has made peace with the wind. I have to say I donā€™t have a fabulous relationship with the wind either.

Driving a trailer with horses can be extremely tiring. Sometimes it feels like it is going to blow you into the ditch.

I remember many times when I would be out with the horses and come feeling like I was covered in dirt, gritty and when I looked in the mirror in fact I was. If the dirt is sandy, it stings. If the air is cold, it stings.

Sometimes my life feels like that. Itā€™s an amusement park ride. Up and down, spinning in circles, and all around. Then the hurt blows in. It blows my hair around and stings your face. It can take my breath away.

Something in my life doesnā€™t work so I pivot, then I pivot again. Then it stings. There can be many winds in our lives.

Herd of horses

If I slow down and allow peace and love in it can feel like a cool breeze on a hot summer day. It brings calm in on the wings of change.

If I truly listen, I will hear the stories. Stories in the breeze of peace and love. Stories in the wind that are hostile.

The horses hear the true stories. They hear all the undertones of what we are saying. They will help you speak your truth to the world. Are you listening to them?

If youā€™d like to share your stories with the horses and leave them in my round pen connect with me here.
