woman and horseWhen I tell people Iā€™m a Master Equine Gestaltist they often get a funny look on their faces. They may say something like an equine is a horse, right? Whatā€™s that other word?

Itā€™s rather hard to explain ā€“ itā€™s easier to experience it.

Hereā€™s my best effort. Gestalt is a German word literally meaning form or shape. Sometimes we call it wholeness or flowing back to form. Like when youā€™re making a jigsaw puzzle. You see all the parts and rearrange them into the picture. As Gestaltists we see your parts as well as the whole person.

We will guide you to see what is responsible for certain situations in your life. Do an experiment and clear that background so it doesnā€™t create problems for you anymore.

An Example

Letā€™s say someone told you as a kid you didnā€™t know enough, werenā€™t smart enough. This person was an authority figure in your life, a teacher, or other adults that you looked up to. You also had a very smart sibling. Everyone treated them with respect, and it was pointed out often that they were the smart one. As a child, you take whatever the adult told you as the truth and it was reinforced by everyone saying things that felt like comparison to your sibling. You wouldnā€™t feel smart. You might even feel lacking in intelligence even though in reality you arenā€™t.

Lego man sitting on bench - The Art of the BrickThis carries on into adulthood. Now you donā€™t feel like you have enough knowledge when in conversations. You might say something that is a little off and feel stupid ā€“ then you beat yourself up about it. You might be afraid to ask questions because it might be a dumb question. One that everyone else knows the answer to and you donā€™t.

Now you go to a Gestaltist. They ask you some questions and discover that your fourth-grade teacher put you in the janitorā€™s closet because you didnā€™t do your homework. You hear her voice every day telling you that you donā€™t know enough.

All these years later you still hear it. Now the Gestaltist will set up an experience to help you rid yourself of that voice that is talking to you to this day. And you leave feeling free from the troll.

How Do the Horses Help?

In the above example, they may not be actively involved in the experience. When it is complete the Gestaltist will put you in the round pen with the horse. The Gestaltist will ask you to make statements about yourself. The horse knows when we speak our truth even when we think it is true and they will let us know. They can feel when we are in congruence.

Iā€™m having two Open Barn/Demo Days this spring. The first is March 23, 1:00 ā€“ 4:00 pm. The second is April 28, 1:00 ā€“ 4:00 pm. Come to Serenity Ranch to meet the horses and see a demonstration of what they do. Please register below to get the address. There is no fee.
