I consider myself spiritual. Iā€™ve been working on my spirituality for almost 8 years now.

A while back a friend commented that I must sometimes ask why me. That got me thinking about a lot of things. Iā€™ve seen an inspirational quote about success asking, ā€œwhy not meā€. The same can be asked here.

This quote is on the Martin Luther King, Jr memorial in Washington DC. I was very moved when I saw it in August of 2017 and that was before the cancer diagnosis.

I think when my surgeon gave me the biopsy results on November 10 for a moment I did ask ā€œwhy meā€. Then as I went to the other room to tell Mike I shed some tears. Weā€™ve been on such a medical trek since January 2013 and this was going to add some difficulty to that.

Then I set about asking some of his doctors at KU who they would send their wives to if they were diagnosed with breast cancer. Proceeding with the journey.

When I first posted in the Touched By A HorseĀ® FaceBook group it started with ā€œthe Universe has another lesson to teach meā€. I am open to learning Its lesson and giving the cancer back to the Universe, wrapped up in a pretty package with a bow on top so it will not be given to another.

I do feel that I am very blessed. I have very good driving karma. I have been in several situations that could have had a much more negative outcome than they did. Several years ago, I would enter online sweepstakes. One day I wondered why I do this I never win anything. Then I decided that if the not great luck I had in those sweepstakes counteracted the great driving karma and kept my family healthy I was happy not winning the sweepstakes. So, I continued.

I still have great driving karma. Our medical karma hasnā€™t been so good as of late. The Universe has something to teach me. I need to receive the message.

I get a daily email from http://www.tut.com/. A while back I received this one:

When something difficult or painful happens, Susan, always look to see what it makes possible that wouldn’t have otherwise been possible.

Like a new adventure, a closer friendship, or chocolate in your peanut butter.

Everything makes you better,

The Universe

PS: Clever of me, huh, Susan?

The medical issues Mike and I have experienced have led me to the Touched By A Horse program and to a new opportunity to experience health care in a different way. For me as a caregiver and now patient seeing how health care works in the larger hospitals in several locations. My passion for my new business Connection And Synergy is to help doctors make better connections with caregivers and patients as well as help all of them live better lives.

My belief is that had I not been on that spiritual journey I would be asking why me.

Sometimes I want to run away. My choice is to be Brave, learn the lessons the Universe has for me, and continue the journey.
