Music has always played a big role in my life. As a little girl, I sang with my mother. In high school and college, I sang with the choir as well as in small groups and solos. When I do anything creative or read I like to listen to music. When I read or write I listen to instrumentals. In the last year or so I stumbled across David Garret so my favorite reading and writing music is the David Garret Pandora station.
As I was turning on Pandora today it was on the Classic Rock station (probably my favorite) and Dust In The Wind by Kansas came on. Well, I had to listen to that, Kansas is one of my all-time favorite bands and Dust In The Wind is one of my favorite songs.
I feel like music helps to keep me in the moment, keep my focus on whatever Iām doing. Dust In The Wind talks about living in the moment. Not letting the past bog us down or worrying about the future because everything is ādust in the windā.
Like I said for me music helps to keep me focused. I can turn on my classic rock station and sit in my whirlpool tub and get lost in the relaxation. I can turn on the David Garret station to help me focus on writing or reading.
It can be very hard for me to still my mind. I try to meditate but like Elizabeth in Eat Pray Love the thoughts always creep in. While I was at Summit I had an astrology reading done. In our discussion, we talked about how I have trouble stilling my mind. He suggested that I try Tai Chi or Qi Gong. Using my body while I meditate should satisfy my restless mind.
The last two days I have been very in the moment. On Sunday John and I picked what I think will be the last of the tomatoes and peppers. On Monday I spent all day making salsa. I ran out of energy, so we put it in the refrigerator and I cooked and canned it on Tuesday.
Sometimes I get so into what Iām doing that I forget that I have others to take care of. I almost forgot to feed the horses on Monday evening. This is a problem when I get hyper-focused in on what Iām doing. I need to find a balance.
Horses are naturally at a higher vibrational energy than we are, and they want to share their energy with us. I believe that is why so many people are drawn to them. They help us to feel our emotions. They help us stand in our own truth. They help us to stay present.
This is something Iāve always known intuitively. I didnāt know the exact reason until I entered the Touched By A Horse Equine Gestalt Coaching MethodĀ® program. Let me know if youād like to explore the healing power of horses with me.
Remember everything is Dust In The Wind.
