Do you have a dream that youā€™d like to see come to fruition?

In the Equine Gestalt Coaching MethodĀ® training we are required to create a vision. Mine has always been to live in the country where my horses are.

When Mike and I were first married I was able to do that. Then the landlady who owned the property where we were living with the horses and cows died and her family wanted to sell the land. About the same time, my grandpaā€™s hired man got hurt and could no longer work.

It was worked out that we would move to Scott City to help our grandpa for 5-10 years. Grandpa passed away about two months after we moved. We remained for about a year but there were family stresses that couldnā€™t be worked through, so we moved back to Oakley.

There may be curves ahead.

We no longer had a house in the country, so we moved into town. Charlie was not quite a year old and I have to admit it was much easier being in town while the kids were in school. Especially since we lived within walking/biking distance.

We had some land that we purchased shortly after we were married where I always dreamed of building a house and barn. Then several years ago we bought a house that was right there. Mike liked to say we owned the town of Campus I think because we had all the land in the original town.

Writing a vision will clarify the path in front of me.

That house had not been treated very well by its previous owner and we talked about making it into a hunting lodge. It would take a lot of work that we never got started. Thatā€™s when my dream grew to include a lodge or an inn where we could host hunters, family reunions, etc.

While I was in the EGCM program it became clear that the vision was for a retreat center where I could have EGC retreats. Problem is it takes an entire day to get here from anywhere and an ethanol plant moved in across the road.

Now as I move forward, Iā€™m considering moving closer to a major airport so itā€™s easier for clients to get to me. Through all this, the vision of living in the same location as my horses has remained. Iā€™m just not sure where Iā€™ll land.

Sometimes our vision needs a course correction.

Since graduation season is upon us, Iā€™ve been thinking a lot about vision. Students who are graduating need to get their vision clear. Then yesterday a friend posted on FaceBook about his forever home.

I would encourage him and everyone to write their vision and turn it over to the Universe. When writing a vision, it needs to be clear on what you want but not how you get it. You also need to remember that there will most likely be course corrections along the way. Then take baby steps in the direction of the vision and trust the process.
